Vehicles with beam-axle suspension system are equipped with the lateral (Panhard) rod to connect the axle to the car body/chassis, preventing lateral movement. Under such suspension system, the axle is shifted sideways when the vehicle's ride height is altered(lifted). Lateral displacement of the axle can affect the vehicle's straight-moving behavior and cause the wheel on one side to protrude past the fender. In such case, the shifted axle position needs to be corrected by changing/adjusting the lateral rod length.

Use of the adjustable lateral rod allows for adjustment by millimeter increments. Turnbuckle adjuster, enabling equal adjustment on both sides, makes it possible to adjust the length without removing the rod from the vehicle. With the lateral rod still on the vehicle, simply loosen the lock nuts, rotate the turnbuckle, re-tighten the lock nuts at the desired length and the vehicle is all set to go.
